Testing of energy management software with confirmation of conformity
What is energy management software?
Energy management systems (EnMS) are an effective tool for the continuous improvement of energy-relevant processes and the systematic optimization of energy use, from energy purchasing to energy consumption. Government benefits are also often linked to an EnMS according to ISO 50001.
Software solutions (energy management software, EnMS software) help companies implement the ISO 50001 standard and support daily energy controlling.
What is audited in energy management software?
For several years, GUTcert has been offering process audits to check the conformity of EnMS software. This involves checking whether your software is suitable for supporting the
- Implementing the system
- Maintain and improve the EnMS according to the current version of the standard, currently DIN EN ISO 50001:2018.
The basis of the conformity check are the standard sections 6.2-6.6 as well as 9.1 of ISO 50001.
In particular, the standard element 6.3 Energetic evaluation and the possibility of visualizing the data are addressed in order to be able to make statements about the possibilities of the energy management software, also with regard to data quality and evaluation.
However, the audit also focuses on aspects of quality assurance:
- Data validation
- Process flows
- development processes with special consideration of the aspects of quality assurance of the software
- internal quality requirements
- test runs
- test concept/execution
- documentation etc.
As proof of the audit, a certificate of conformity and a detailed report on the assessment are issued to support the implementation/maintenance of ISO 50001.
For whom is the EnMS software audit relevant?
Certificate of conformity and report are not only useful for suppliers and for the manufacturers of software solutions, they are also interesting for potential users of the software.
