ISO 50001 - Energy management
Certification of energy management systems according to ISO 50001
An energy management system (EnMS) according to DIN EN ISO 50001 is a demonstrably effective instrument for increasing the energy efficiency of companies and thus reducing energy consumption, CO2 emissions and - last, but not least - costs. Government benefits and tax refunds, such as the “Besondere Besondere Ausgleichsregelung “(BesAR) under the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG) and the succession regulation for “Spitzenausgleich” under the SpaEfV are also linked to the operation of systematic energy management in accordance with ISO 50001.
Likewise, § 8 of the EDL-G (Law on Energy Services and other Energy Efficiency Measures - German implementation of the EU Efficiency Directive) requires an EnMS according to ISO 50001 for non-SMEs, even if no financial benefits are associated with this.
As an accredited certification company for ISO 50001, GUTcert has proven itself as a recognised competence centre for energy management in Germany and beyond within the AFNOR Group. Through cooperation in the German standards committee on the EN 16001 and ISO 50001 standards and years of practical experience from countless audits, we are now pioneers in the field of energy certification.
The revised ISO 50001:2018 published in August 2018 is accompanied by major changes. In order for GUTcert customers to be adequately prepared, we already offer GAP audits for ISO 50001 in order to identify possible need for action at an early stage.
The Federal Office of Economics and Export Control (BAFA) used GUTcert's guideline for efficient energy management according to ISO 50001 as a basis for implementing legal regulations. Developed by GUTcert in 2010 and continuously revised and adapted since then, thanks to its availability in eight languages, it is now used by many small and large companies, including those operating internationally, to meet legal requirements reliably at national and international level. It enables organizations to independently introduce an EnMS and to "incidentally" map the requirements of the standard. Over 18 steps in three steps it leads comprehensibly and practically to the goal and is a solid basis for the successful certification of a management system according to ISO 50001.
Your advantages with GUTcert
It is particularly easy to integrate an EnMS into existing management systems, such as an environmental management system (EMS) according to ISO 14001 or a quality management system (QMS) according to ISO 9001.
As part of your cost analysis, you should not fail to clarify to what extent you can benefit from the promotion of energy management systems of the BAFA. We have compiled initial information on funding for you.
In order to estimate the costs of a certification for a 3-year cycle, we need site-related information for your company: Field of activity, number of employees, number of energy sources used, total energy consumption and number of significant energy users. This data is recorded in our inquiry form under request for quotation.
