Social Audits

Social audits ensure that your suppliers comply with all environmental, labour and social standards

Nowadays, responsibility is no longer limited to one's own company, but applies to the entire supply chain of a company. The globalization of production processes makes these supply chains increasingly complex and difficult to control. Today more than ever, consumers are paying great attention to sustainable production methods and safe working conditions at suppliers. But tragedies such as the collapse of a textile factory in Bangladesh (Rana Plaza) show that much still needs to be done before companies meet their global responsibilities through their suppliers.

Scope of the provided service

The scope of supplier audits depends on the requirements of our customers. Various international standards form the basis for a social audit, e.g. occupational safety (OHSAS), environmental management (ISO 14001), social accountability (SA 8000) or ISO 26000, the international standard for social responsibility (CSR).

The new international standard for sustainable procurement (ISO 20400) also moves more and more companies to have their purchasing policies for suppliers independently reviewed.

As a certification body, GUTcert has decades of testing experience and, as part of the AFNOR network, has access to a worldwide pool of qualified auditors in the area of social responsibility.
