What does
environmental
report mean?

What is an environmental report?
What are the benefits of an environmental report for my company?
The reports provide the client with confirmation of compliance with the above requirements, thereby ensuring planning and legal certainty. Environmental reports also serve as evidence for claiming relief or remuneration, e.g. within the framework of bonus schemes under the Renewable Energy Sources Act EEG.
GUTcert – Environmental verifiers since 1995
When the European environmental management system EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) was launched in 1993, GUTcert was one of the first environmental verification organisations for EMAS in Europe to carry out validations. Of the first 70 environmental statements across Europe, 18 were validated by GUTcert.
GUTcert is now one of the largest environmental verification organisations, with 23 accredited environmental verifiers working in over 2,000 organisations across all sectors.
- GUTcert is the environmental specialist – with the longest environmental experience in Germany and accredited in many areas
- We are recognised by the DAkkS and approved by the DAU
- We have comprehensive expertise in almost all industries
- We certify worldwide – through our network in the AFNOR Group
- GUTcert's environmental verifiers and auditors all have practical experience and are always up to date.
- We offer integrated and combined certification procedures and compliance audits.
As part of the assessment, documents are reviewed and the premises or facility are visited to check whether legal requirements or requirements from standards (norms) are being met. For example, EMAS validation confirms implementation in accordance with the requirements of the EMAS Regulation. In addition, the information and data in the environmental statement are validated as part of the expert assessment.
An essential prerequisite for validation with the EMAS seal is compliance with applicable legal regulations and demonstrable continuous improvement of the organisation's environmental performance. The requirements of the environmental management system according to ISO 14001 are already included in an EMAS validation.
The environmental verifiers document the results of the assessment in a report (expert opinion), which also contains recommendations and suggestions for changes to improve the system by the customer.
The cost of testing and validation varies depending on the size and environmental relevance of the organisation. Therefore, GUTcert calculates each offer individually on the basis of internationally binding regulations, in accordance with the requirements of the company – please contact us!
The basis for the environmental verifier accreditation examination is the requirements of the EMAS Regulation, the Environmental Audit Act (UGA) and the UAG Technical Expertise Guideline of the Environmental Verifier Committee. The reliability, independence and technical expertise of the candidate are examined.
An environmental verifier is considered competent if their education, professional training and practical experience enable them to perform the tasks expected of them properly. The examination of professional knowledge is the responsibility of the German Accreditation and Certification Company for Environmental Verifiers (DAU) in Bonn. The costs for certification are regulated by the UAG Fee Regulation.
GUTcert is always interested in new qualified environmental verifiers. If you have any further questions about career paths and job prospects, please contact our auditor management team.
A list of all verifiers can be found on the DAU website.
What awards/logos are given out?

Organisations that comply with the requirements of the EMAS Regulation are permitted to use the EMAS logo, introduced in 2001, on validated environmental information. This also includes environmental product declarations, which the audited organisations use to provide information about the environmental performance of products. The Chambers of Industry and Commerce (IHK) and the Chambers of Crafts (HWK) are responsible for awarding the logo.
